This new complex got the football program out of its "temporary" mobile offices, and consolidated the locker rooms, training rooms, weightroom, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices.
The entire facility is shoe-horned between an existing natatorium and practice field/track, and the edge of campus. The northern COST PER SQ FT$181.58FEATURED IN2012 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYSports Stadiums/Athletic Facilities of the building is mostly monolithic and serves as the edge of campus.
The south- and west-facing walls are much more transparent, allowing for outward views back toward campus while creating a visual "backstop." The "backstop" incorporates a perforated stainless mesh "ASU" supergraphic. The 20-foot mesh letters engage long-distance views from other parts of campus and direct attention to the main lobby. They also perform as an exterior shade to help the curtainwall shield the harsh southwestern sunlight.
The lobby serves as the first impression of the building and strives to create a lasting visual impact with its vibrant colors and "larger than life" mural of past ASU players that have made it into the NFL.
