The Telemedicine Resource Center (TRC) and Rural-PRIME Facility, as envisioned, will provide state-of-the-art learning environments, telemedicine consultation environments and the required infrastructure to develop new programs for medical education. In addition, the identity and importance of the telemedicine mission will be supported by the new dedicated and distinct TRC facility.
The center utilizes a steel frame structure with special concentric braced frames to resist lateral loads. The exterior finishes consist of precast concrete panels along the north and east facades; curtainwall systems on the east, west and south facades; and sunshading elements.
Through the use of building information modeling (BIM) software, a clear set of design and construction documents was provided that resulted in a highly coordinated design.
The project is designed to comply with the UC Policy on Green Building Design and the Presidential Policy for Green Building Design/Clean Energy Standards. It is expected to qualify for a LEED silver rating.
