Montgomery High School serves more than 2,000 students in southern San Diego County, requiring the facility to become a "beacon of knowledge" within the community. It is poised to redefine the norms of educational facility modernization.

The main objectives achieved in this project:
•Creation of a flexible, adaptable facility to meet future needs.
•Maximization of north daylight by its east-west orientation.
•Integration of translucent finishes to aid in the feeling of openness.
•Open placement of ergonomic furnishings for maximum comfort and efficient technology usage.
The use of sustainable design standards include a healthy and economic mix of natural and energy-efficient lighting, north-facing window walls, and solar shading systems to offer a balance of diffuse and glare-free daylight from three directions. Rooftop photovoltaic panels generate 12.5 percent of the building’s energy requirements. The district is seeking a USGBC LEED gold certification.
