The comprehensive master plan for Eastern Connecticut State University outlines strategies for establishing the school as Connecticut’s leading public liberal-arts university. To create spaces to foster campus involvement in a 5,137-student school, the plan for the 182-acre campus included building assessments, program evaluations and FEATURED IN2009 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYCampus Master Planning opportunities, a capital-development program and a master plan for 2017.
The new plan addresses:
•Situating new buildings, including a new fine-arts instructional center; new residence halls; sports center expansion; dining hall expansion; and parking structure.
•Reorganizing vehicular circulation from the campus interior to a perimeter loop road to create open space and new campus quadrangles, and improve pedestrian circulation.
•Providing additional recreation fields.
•Unifying the south campus with a focused academic core.
