Perched on a steep, rocky plateau along the medical center’s northern edge, the center is an architectural showpiece and gateway to the campus core, welcoming visitors with a reflecting pool at its entrance. Designed for future expansion, the building connects the campus with a conference center, public amenities, informal interaction spaces, and plentiful daylighting and views.

The collaborative, flexible environment has helped the university attract leading physician-scientists nationwide. Efficient, modular laboratories enable flexible assignments of research teams, and "neighborhoods" of research offices, breakout spaces and lab suites create dynamic environments for multidisciplinary teaching and focused research centers.

Core support spaces and shared equipment areas are situated centrally, encouraging team science and avoiding costly duplication. Clinical translational research is consolidated at the ground floor for discreet public access.
