The statewide, open-access Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana has grown into the state’s second-largest post-secondary institution. To meet growing enrollment, a major expansion and renovation of the campus was needed.
A two-story addition consisting of two linear academic wings was added to the one-story Academic Building. New components include a library, classrooms, 170-seat lecture hall and computer labs.
The expansion and renovation were programmed for new academic courses including paramedic services, nursing, medical assistant, marketing, visual communications, wide-area networking, design technology, banking and finance, building preservation and restoration, and supervision of healthcare facilities.
New services include a wellness center, campus life center, student affairs, bookstore and offices. A high-tech videoconference suite supports distance learning and advanced technology, and state-of-the-art equipment is present throughout the facility.
The existing building’s exterior was renovated to match the new campus character, unifying the facility. Roadways, parking and walkways were reconfigured and constructed to enable easy access to the campus.
