Second, the existing gymnasium complex will be remodeled to suit the current program, simplify circulation and bring the building up-to-date. The public space created between the two buildings and the main street will serve as a student link to the main area of the campus and create a large pre-/post-game plaza during tournaments. Monumental stairs, ramps and an elevator will be incorporated to facilitate major grade changes and create the edges of the plaza.
A large entry overhang will connect the new facility with the existing and create a visual gateway to a second lower plaza for athletic staff. A large sign along the street will serve as a marquee.
