Extensive renovations to Fassett Elementary School, which involved adding a 34,000-square-foot section behind the existing building, are part of Elmira City School District’s focus on improving educational facilities for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The former auditorium/cafeteria/gymnasium was replaced by a dedicated auditorium and cafeteria, and a new gymnasium, along with 13 new classrooms, were added. New music rooms include choral and instrumental areas as part of the new addition.
The design replaces HVAC systems, electrical service, roofs and new playgrounds, as well as a new bus dropoff area and parking facilities. The team also designed new security systems, including configurations for line-of-sight, building access control and technology.
