The new two-story, 600-student middle school features two sets of four classrooms, including a science room grouped around a multipurpose cluster space to reinforce the concept of student teams. Skylights bring natural lighting into the cluster rooms on the second floor.
Core facilities include a library/IMC, a 400-seat auditorium, a cafeteria designed to seat 200, a COST PER SQ FT$132.00CITATIONMiddle School CitationFEATURED IN1999 Architectural Portfolio laboratory, a technology shop, a family and consumer science room, a health classroom, art room with kiln, a music room and a gymnasium with two teaching stations. The auditorium and the gymnasium, designed for school and community use, can be accessed after-hours through the secondary entrance, while the academic wing remains secured.
Wetland-permitting issues and an aquifer recharge zone location required use of an enhanced nitrogen reduction system for the middle school’s septic-system design.
