This recreation building was more than doubled by a 135,000-square-foot addition, which extended the existing circulation concourse to provide great visibility to all venues.
The entrance lobby provides an expansive public space that is used heavily for various campus activities. The ground floor features free weights, weight machines, a two-court multi-activity court (MAC), two-court gym, outdoor adventure center, climbing wall, combatives, dance/cheer, spinning, mind/body, classrooms, offices, a lobby cafe, one-court MAC, three-court gym and racquetball courts.
The second floor features wellness/fitness, a cardio balcony and running track, seminar room and aerobics rooms. McAnderson Park was upgraded with a retention lake, smart irrigation system, new and renovated fields, a new pedestrian concourse, sand volleyball, plaza/band pavilion/amphitheater, walking/jogging trails and landscape/parking improvements.
The project has been submitted for LEED certification.
