The Sol Center is the anchor of the student center complex, a small neighborhood of buildings on the eastern edge of campus. The 28,000-square-foot building, with its mix of academic, social and retail components, is a significant addition to the complex, helping to realize the student’s vision of a vibrant “Main Street.”

The new student union building is an iconic ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCOST PER SQ FT$286.00FEATURED IN2008 Architectural Portfolio for the campus, and the design includes a three-story glass tower at the west entry that is visible from a large part of campus. The design integrates the building and plaza through terraced concentric circles, which enable the building to be a bold backdrop for the events held in the adjacent performance space.

It is the home for student clubs and organizations, as well as a place for formal and casual meetings, study and relaxation. A large computer lab and conference room are included for student use, as well as lounges for more casual gatherings. Union administrative functions also are part of the new facility and include human resources and business offices. The facility also contains a privately run coffeehouse and an adjacent market to provide a casual gathering spot and convenient shopping as part of the student center complex.
