A centralized media center and large-group instruction room connect the two wings. Informal indoor and outdoor activity nodes provide places for students to come together and learn from one another.
The history of Portsmouth is evident in every aspect of the design. Items such as plaques, stone urns and even water fountains from previous schools are found in hallways, display cases and the student courtyard.
Situated in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, the school draws deep red and buff tones from the nearby public library, churches and houses. The dramatic facade, which features extensive glass and large pillars framing the main entrance, creates a signature building within the community.
