The project manager/design architect led the efforts of the staff, community, technical architect and engineers to support district priorities, including efficient geothermal heating and air conditioning, which has proven to be effective in controlling costs and maintaining a comfortable learning environment.

The building is fully networked to support advanced technology and media. The community preferred durable, adaptable brick and block construction with a sloped metal roof.
The academic center includes perimeter classrooms with shared small-group computer/activity spaces that are monitored easily by the classroom teacher, and offer a variety of uses for regular and special education programs. Science/art centers are featured on each floor to provide large-group spaces for enhanced curriculum. Kindergarten rooms are designed for flexibility with removable partitions separating the shared activity centers. The spacious commons is adjacent to the administration area and multipurpose dining room. The media center features computer and story areas.
