The plan also needed to incorporate a “one-stop” service area to ease the registration process for students. Finally, the college had an aggressive project schedule requiring completion of design and construction in 12 months.
The design team worked intensely with the college’s president and college representatives to identify the needs of the student population, as well as the requirements for accreditation. The design process was accelerated using a charrette-type atmosphere. This approach allowed the design and documentation process to be cut in half.
The design of the instructional spaces focused on providing a quality educational environment with an emphasis on integrating technology. The entry lobby and corridors show exposed structure and technology throughout such key areas as the one-stop service area and information center. Interior windows were used in public areas to create an open and inviting atmosphere. Durable and lively interior finishes complete the exciting space.
