The architect provided design and construction-management services for the new 62,000-square-foot, two-story Academic Forum on the Kutztown University campus. The facility houses a variety of classroom arrangements, as well as the new North Campus food-service area.
A signature feature of the Academic Forum’s core is a 6,000-square-foot commons area that contains a COST PER SQ FT$258.10FEATURED IN2007 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYCommon Areas of seating and interaction “nooks’” in support of the food-service operation and lounge/interaction functions. The design allowed all of the classrooms to be equipped with audiovisual technology wired to each seat or completely wireless. The North Campus food-service area provides space for service operations, storage and a loading dock.
Construction-management services for the Academic Forum included managing all site activities. The firm provided all project documentation including cost control, schedule maintenance and quality-assurance inspections. In addition, equipment operation and maintenance training were conducted prior to the university occupying the building.
