The architect was commissioned to investigate alternatives for converting the former John R. Dimitry Student Center into a cultural community center. With fine- and performing-arts functions housed in adjacent buildings, the college envisioned a cultural complex to serve the community.

The largest space, Discovery Hall, is the perfect backdrop for the exquisite traveling exhibits from all over the world.
A second space, the Founder’s Room, recognizes Macomb Community College’s past presidents and founding trustees, and provides a more intimate space for entertaining visiting VIPs. Support spaces include staff offices, the food-service manager’s office, catering kitchen, food staging room and furniture storage spaces.
The building was remodeled with updated finishes, new HVAC equipment, technology equipment and furniture.
