The building expresses the college’s ambitious evolution into a nationally recognized, progressive academic institution. This is partly accomplished by motifs reminiscent of Gothic design, such as the stone masonry arcade and the vertically striated facade treatment. Such features as the central atrium, which has a roof composed of two asymmetrical, concentric barrel vaults, express the college’s innovate spirit.
Simultaneously, the project will achieve LEED silver certification through features that are emblematic of the college’s progressive values. These features include the building’s solar orientation, rainwater-collection cisterns, T-shaped windows, sunscreens, interior light shelves and a green roof accessible from the central atrium.
