The Technical Training Center provides associate degree vocational programs, as well as specialized technical training to support strong local manufacturing industries.
The existing two-level building required creative ramp access to multiple new overhead doors to service the technical shops and laboratories. The facility also includes standard, specialized and distance-learning classrooms, as well as general administrative, career counseling and adult-education office suites.
The renovation included new electrical service and distribution, new HVAC systems with gas-fired hot-water boilers, gas-fired rooftop units and DX cooling, as well as specialized exhaust including an auto paint spray booth. All HVAC temperature controls are PC-based. A centralized compressed-air system serves all shops. A new fiber-optic data network backbone system connected to distributed data racks is incorporated throughout the facility.
The shops/laboratories have extensive overhead electric service bus ducts to provide for flexible changing of equipment, such as CNC machine tool equipment and future replacement equipment. Storage mezzanines were added at the upper level to provide expanded storage capacity for the new shops.
Sitework included expanded parking and access drives, exterior secured storage areas, walks and landscaping.
