Allen Park Middle School was just one of the district facilities to receive renovations and upgrades as a result of a bond election. The new spaces were designed to make students imagine they are in the canopy of a tree, reminiscent of being in a treehouse. The quarter barrel-vault roof structure projects this environment into the second-floor media center. The tower element directs students and visitors to the main entry, helping to eliminate the previous confusion of two front doors.

The renovations included a full exterior glazing replacement, mechanical and electrical upgrades, a new cafeteria serving area and track improvements. New lighting and mechanical systems improved the quality of the learning environments. Fresh interior finishes combined to give a renewed sense of pride to students, staff and community members.

Floor patterns reinforce the theme of bringing nature into the space by the design of tree branches and foliage.
