St. Maur is the center of activity for Conception Seminary College in Conception, Mo. Built in the early 1900s, St. Maur houses classrooms, administrative offices and faculty offices for the college. In addition to the academic functions of the facility, it also contains a student chapel and alumni union.
The renovation of the building updated the mechanical and COST PER SQ FT$99.00FEATURED IN2006 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYInterior Renovation systems, made the building code-compliant and reorganized the program spaces.
A new program plan establishes three distinct zones for new buildings on campus. The zones identified are public, which accommodates all guest and visitor uses; semi-private, which accommodates all seminarian uses; and private, which is reserved for monastic uses. Although the design of St. Maur separates areas into the three zones, the building is unified by a grand center stair.
The renovation was part of the first phase of a 10-year master plan, and also included a safe and accessible entry drive and welcome center.
