The project includes an addition to the engineering building that totals about 16,270 square feet. The addition includes the advanced manufacturing lab, CNC programming classroom and related support spaces. The second floor includes an electronic fabrication lab, telecommunications classroom and darkroom suite.
The exterior of the new building was designed to match COST PER SQ FT$122.00FEATURED IN2005 Architectural Portfolio surrounding campus buildings.
Also included is the renovation of about 22,795 square feet of existing space on the first and second floors of the engineering building. The spaces renovated include a civil/construction lab, materials testing, metrology labs, a plastics lab, hydraulics, non-distributive testing, CADD labs, a solid modeling lab, math/science technology classroom, information-technology classroom, student study, offices, and educational and building support areas.
In order to accommodate the Emerson Center for Engineering and Manufacturing project, the college had to relocate the nursing program facilities from the first floor to the second floor of the engineering building. The nursing department project included 5,790 square feet of renovations to the second floor.
