The centerpiece of the new addition to the existing Reif Gymnasium is the 48,500-square-foot multipurpose fieldhouse, which encloses a six-lane, 200-meter indoor track, elevated jogging track, and four multipurpose courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, badminton and other uses. The addition also includes a cardio fitness mezzanine with aerobics and conditioning equipment, a free-weight room, an aerobic dance room with wood floor, new locker rooms, offices for trainers and staff, and a climbing wall.
The facility complements the existing Reif Gymnasium. A new entry with a single control point was designed to serve both the new and existing facilities. Students enter via an upper-level lobby with overlooks to the new multipurpose fieldhouse, new climbing wall and the existing Reif Gymnasium. The wood floor in the existing Reif Gymnasium still serves as the performance court for basketball and volleyball, so the new fieldhouse flooring is surfaced in multiuse synthetic flooring and track surfacing.
