The architect consulted with student, faculty, career-education and facilities groups to develop a phased implementation plan to renovate 30,000 square feet in Georgetown University’s student center. The building is located on the university’s campus in northwest Washington, D.C., and is adjacent to the medical center and conference center, which serve the COST PER SQ FT$55.00FEATURED IN1998 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYStudent Centers/Service Areas public as well as the university community. The entire project was completed within four months, while the building remained open.
The program included a new suite for the dean of students; a new entrance lobby, coffeehouse and lounge for the student center; staff and interview offices, a library, conference areas and computer training areas for the career center.
MBNA Bank worked with the university to develop the career-education center to provide students with the appropriate resources for researching employment opportunities, preparing resumes, conducting interviews and forming career plans. The furnishings are comparable to corporate standards and simulate a professional environment for the students.
