This 30,000-square-foot facility is constructed within an existing retail mall, and was designed to serve the university’s large population of off-campus students, faculty and staff. The bookstore houses more than 80,000 titles, hundreds of periodicals and approximately 40 daily newspapers. The textbook area encompasses more than 4,500 square feet of space, and is FEATURED IN1998 Educational InteriorsINTERIOR CATEGORYStudent Centers/Service Areas to facilitate efficient services during the rush textbook buying periods. The store also houses departments for supplies and clothing.
The project was designed to meet the client’s requirements for a warm, inviting and quality retail environment. The architect designed all fixtures, furnishings and signage, including the store’s logo and graphic image. The architect also was responsible for the design of all lighting and special audio/visual systems. The facility was designed on a fast-track basis.
