As one of our nation’s top-rated schools, the Bronxville School combines the ambience and performance traditionally associated with an elite private school with the community-centered spirit of a small public school.
When the limitations of its facilities began to hinder this high-achieving school’s educational program, it turned to the architect to find a CAPACITY1,500COST PER SQ FT$195.00FEATURED IN2005 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYRenovation solution. Particularly challenging was the need to build a significant addition on this small urban K-12 campus that respected the existing ornate and historic building. The facility has been featured in major motion pictures as representative of the best educational architecture of a past era.
The solution was to selectively remove a one-story modern addition and replace it with a historically complementary three-story addition. This new building, which wraps around and over the existing gymnasium, houses a library/media center, science, music, art, athletics, a cafeteria and general classrooms.
