Great care and consideration were taken when designing the addition on the historic campus. To make a seamless connection of old and new, traditional materials of brick, limestone and glass were used. Curved limestone creates a contemporary feel, and the expansive windows bring natural light to all levels of the addition.
The building addition contains administrative offices and galleries for long- or short-term display of exhibits. These galleries allow the university, the archives and the community to host special events. The addition also features an international electronic learning center consisting of seminar rooms and a distance-learning lecture hall with seating for 75.
