Sustainable-design measures include the use of renewable materials, energy-efficient systems and daylighting. The building is projected to be 40 percent more efficient than the energy code. A new mechanical system developed by the architect helps the district manage humidity and indoor air quality. Materials and systems that minimize maintenance costs were selected.

The facility includes a two-station gymnasium on the lower level and a full-size competition basketball court with bleacher seating. The design allows for the future expansion of changing areas, building storage and locker rooms.
