Faced with the threat of closure in the 1990s, the antiquated Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSoD) set out to become the national benchmark in dental education. MUSoD achieved that goal and also serves as the gateway building for the campus.

Led with a strong vision and supported by leadership, MUSoD revitalized dental education nationwide with its ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCOST PER SQ FT$237.00FEATURED IN2004 Architectural PortfolioSUB CATEGORYSpecialized curriculum, patient-centered care, progressive technology and a setting that mirrors real-world dental practice.

MUSoD offers student learning and assessment in an environment similar to functioning dental practices while providing much-needed oral care to the surrounding underserved community. The series of smaller clinic environments and abundant natural light found along its perimeter offers a comfortable, relaxing experience for patients and students.

A pre-clinical simulation laboratory allows first- and second-year students to practice their skills on high-tech mannequins. In addition, a technology “play room” encourages faculty, staff and students to experience the latest in dental equipment and instrumentation.

Appealing, full-city views from shared waiting, conference and lounge areas offer opportunities for both planned and spontaneous collaboration.
