The new 30,000-square-foot Health Sciences Building at Chipola College houses both instructional and administrative spaces for healthcare-related programs including nursing, occupational therapy and EMS/EMT.
The facility is organized as a two-story instructional wing, a two-story administration wing and a single-level auditorium connected by a two-story, light-filled CAPACITY190COST PER SQ FT$93.44FEATURED IN2004 Architectural Portfolio atrium.
The instructional wing contains both traditional classroom spaces and specialized training labs, which are served by a linear circulation spine. All of the classrooms and training labs have access to natural daylight and ventilation, and are equipped with technical training equipment. The administration wing contains centralized reception, production and conference room spaces and perimeter offices, which have natural daylight and ventilation.
Architecturally, the building was designed to be compatible with the existing campus architecture and includes many passive design features, including extended roof overhangs, fenestration shading devices and a low-maintenance building exterior.
