Fresh from their 2000 NCAA basketball championship, Michigan State University’s head basketball coaches dreamed of an arena addition that would be second to none and would help them recruit the nation’s top high school basketball athletes. The addition was built on the east side of the existing arena, showering natural light into the office and conference areas. As recruits enter the ample reception area, they are welcomed by mementos of the program’s climb to the top. Settling into the primary conference room, families get a glimpse of Spartan pride—the coach’s philosophy on what getting an education and playing basketball at MSU really means.
