The project scope included renovation of a three-story building originally designed to accommodate the library. The change from its original information-based utility to the latest in digital technology required the design firm to rethink not only the structure, but also the future of how the next generation of students would learn, play and work.

The solution involved a complete interior demolition and a 4,700-square-foot addition. This provided a total of 38,500 square feet for the department, which had been sharing 21,500 square feet with the department of education next door.
