Leetonia K-12 School is situated atop one of eastern Ohio’s rolling hills. Respecting the landforms, the design negotiates a 25-foot elevation change, creating middle school classrooms in the lower level.
To facilitate primary, middle and secondary educational needs, one building has been designed to accommodate the differing demands of younger and older students. Common areas, such as the auditeria, combining stage and support areas for dining and performance space, unite the school. Three principals share central administrative suites. It was necessary to provide separate media centers and gymnasiums designed specifically for the age group being served.
The new Leetonia K-12 School replaces three aged schools, consolidating resources and providing upgraded services. The overall success for the school can be attributed to extensive involvement and cooperation among its board members, educators and design team.
