WMU needed state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate the increasing enrollment and allow for future expansion of dormitories, a student center and additional classrooms.
An underutilized airport, built in 1958, was selected as the new site for WMU’s growing program. The final plan included three buildings: Flight Operations Building, Office Classroom Building and Aviation Technical Center.
