The program called for the renovation of an existing classroom building to house the university’s College of Liberal Arts (COLA) offices, departmental offices, classrooms, computer labs and support areas. A major goal of the project was for the renovated facility to provide an identity and image to the COLA and become the focus of student academic life on campus.

The building entry was redesigned to provide a stronger focus and facilitate handicapped access. The interior of the building was opened up vertically. Large openings placed between the first and second floors and additional stair provide an organization of vertical elements within the building and provide a “center” for student activities. Bold colors for interior surfaces and intricate flooring patterns contribute to the lively interior.
