These two distinct buildings house multiple and diverse functions. The Life Fitness Building accommodates a gymnasium, physical testing and fitness center, as well as office and classroom space. The gymnasium has a half-court basketball court with electronically controlled goals, volleyball courts and badminton courts. The fitness center houses exercise equipment, COST PER SQ FT$166.40FEATURED IN2002 Architectural Portfolio surround-sound system and video monitors. The building is linked to the adjacent existing classroom building by way of a walkway enclosed for safety and weather protection.
The Fine Arts/B&I Center houses a 400-seat auditorium for musical and theatrical performances, an art gallery, music instruction, practice rooms and classrooms equipped with the latest technology for video/audio and Internet access. The jewel of the buildings is the two-story auditorium lobby linking the auditorium to not only the B&I Center and music instruction, but also the main courtyard and existing Great Hall. The two-story curtainwall, which faces the courtyard, cascades light into the lobby during the day and acts as a beacon to the college community at night.
Together the two buildings are leading the college and its community into the new millennium, which promises continued growth and prominence in Carroll County.
