To accommodate educational space needs more efficiently and relieve the tight site conditions at the K-6 elementary school, the district decided to attach an elementary school for grades 3 to 6 to the existing middle/high school. The existing building was renovated. Each facility is designed to operate as an independent school.

The gymnasium and cafeteria are shared facilities.
Allowance for future expansion, such as housing for county special-education units and Head Start programs, was incorporated into the planning.
The design of the new building is straightforward and compatible with the original building, thus creating a smooth transition. The design introduces an abundance of natural light, enhanced by the two courtyards that contribute to the feeling of openness and a pleasant teaching environment.
