The architecture of the facility, with its load-bearing limestone colonnade and historically correct windows, is respectful of the existing buildings. It creates a new academic quadrangle for the campus. With an inviting three-story atrium at its heart, the facility attracts other members of the college community who can see science on display in the many laboratories with windows that open onto the atrium.
The facility provides a collaborative learning environment for supporting the mission of science education. Informal interaction areas are placed strategically within the laboratory and instructional spaces to enhance the opportunity for collaboration among students and faculty members.
