Designed to meet the demands of increasing enrollment and support the district’s educational program, the new Timber Creek High School accommodates 1,200 students with core facilities adequate for expansion to 1,500 students. This facility is the third high school for grades 9-12 in the district, and features a radial plan designed with security in mind. The school is CAPACITY1,500COST PER SQ FT$113.75FEATURED IN2002 Architectural Portfolio with dual-use concepts: the community uses the school in the evenings and on weekends. The school includes a 1,000-seat performing-arts center for school productions and community theater groups. Functional and flexible learning is integrated into the design of the 20,000-square-foot gymnasium, which features six teaching stations and three full-size basketball courts.
The new facility has all the traditional high school features, plus technology and science labs, television studio facilities, athletic facilities, energy-efficient boilers and climate control. The 8,000-square-foot media center incorporates natural daylighting, and features exposed structural elements and clerestory windows. The school is designed to be fully accessible and ADA-compliant.
