The Learning Laboratory for Complex Systems forms a unique experiment in integrated teaching laboratories modeled on real-world technological and engineering processes. The faculty sought to combine classroom functions and hands-on labs so the space would physically translate its pedagogical approach, to encompass the full range of engineering process skills in a ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCAPACITY209COST PER SQ FT$276.00CITATIONSpecial CitationFEATURED IN2002 Architectural Portfolio called Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate (CDIO).

The historic building was renovated and expanded to create highly flexible space, allowing students and faculty to work in team environments on projects of varying size and complexity. The design reorganizes the facility and its maze of corridors to remove communication barriers between teaching, research and lab activities, as well as between students and faculty.
