University Center creates a vibrant facility for various programs outside the traditional academic structure.

The project responds to the challenging site demands. Located between the existing Procter Hall and the new Center for Molecular Studies, the University Center provides the central backdrop for the University Commons open space, featuring a major water feature and landscaped areas.

The conference center spaces look out onto the commons. The office buildings are paired on the western edge of the site, responding to the commercial and retail activities along Vine Street, a major north-south thoroughfare. Linking all the elements of the site, as well as being the primary east-west connector of the west academic campus and the east medical campus, will be the pedestrian promenade. The promenade is designed as a people-oriented space with pavilions, plazas and stopping points along the path, inviting pedestrians to enjoy the site.

The project used materials that are traditionally found on the University of Cincinnati campus, including brick, stone, architectural precast concrete and glass. The University Center buildings are designed to visually interact as campus buildings, yet function as commercial entities. The choice of materials reflects the character of the surrounding buildings.

The Kingsgate Conference Center features multiple conference rooms with breakout spaces, guest rooms, lounges, a reception/registration area, lobby, administration areas, kitchen and food service, multiple dining rooms, bar/lounge, gift shop, ballroom, boardrooms and a health club.
