The first major addition since the campus was constructed in 1967 has created a new image for this small college. It houses a student center, theater, music suite, library, and student and community meeting rooms. The student center is a dynamic, daylighted space that has become the social hub of the campus. The 345-seat theater and music suite have brought a renewed COST PER SQ FT$95.00CITATIONPost-Secondary CitationFEATURED IN2001 Architectural Portfolio to the music, vocal and dramatic communities.
Along with the building addition came a revised site circulation pattern that helps highlight and protect the natural features of the campus. One of these features is a small pond surrounded by natural vegetation. The pond is directly outside the student center and is easily accessible from the semicircular outdoor patio, which is now a lunch spot during the summer.
This project has brought a renewed vigor to a small college campus that continually is expanding its curriculum.
"This project combines many functions well to create a new center to the campus. Enjoyable spaces."--2001 jury
